Abbott World Marathon Majors
Anchorage RunFest is excited to once again be an Abbott World Marathon Majors Marathon Tours & Travel Age Group World Rankings qualifying race in 2025! This will be Anchorage RunFest’s second time hosting, and last year welcomed runners from all over the world to explore Anchorage, Alaska’s world class trails and hospitality. The Abbott World Marathon Majors series consists of six of the largest and most renowned marathons in the world: the Tokyo Marathon, Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America, TCS London Marathon, BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, Bank of America Chicago Marathon and TCS New York City Marathon. AbbottWMM hosts a points competition across this series for elite open division and wheelchair athletes, as well as the Six Star program, which rewards any runner who finished all six with the Six Star Medal.
The Age Group World Rankings rewards athletes aged 40+ with the opportunity to compete against their peers for a place at the Age Group World Championship, and the Global Run Club provides a virtual running platform for the community to participate in challenges across a range of distances.

ABOUT ANCHORAGE RUNFEST
Anchorage RunFest is the premier race and fundraiser for the Anchorage Running Club. The event spans the third weekend in August, with races ranging in distance from Ultramarathon to marathon, marathon relay, half-marathon, 5k, and one-mile sprint. The event allows racers to double up on medals with the Back 2 Back Challenge – signing up for two races in two days. Funds raised at Anchorage RunFest support the Anchorage Running Club scholarship program which awards Anchorage high school runners assistance with education expenses.
The Anchorage Running Club, a 501(c)(3), was established in 1982 with the mission of promoting healthy lifestyles through running and walking. This volunteer run organization features several well-loved events throughout the year with Anchorage RunFest being it’s largest.
