RRCA State Championship Event

RRCA Championship Event logo The 2018 Spenard Roadhouse 5K has been designated a Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) State Championship Event. RRCA awards will be presented to the top male and female in each of the following categories: open; masters (40+); grand masters (50+); and senior grand masters (60+).

Course Overview

The 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) out and back course begins in the heart of downtown Anchorage. Runners begin by heading west on 6th Avenue. They turn right (north) on H Street, then take Christenson Drive down till it meets 2nd Avenue. Runners then head west on 2nd Avenue and onto the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail till the turnaround point.

Field Limit

The 5K field is limited to the first 1200 entrants.


The 5K starts and finishes on 6th Avenue between F and G Street adjacent to the Performing Arts Center in downtown Anchorage. Start time is 10:00 AM.

Time Cut-off

Participants must finish by 3:30 PM in order to receive an official time. If runners are not finished by the cut-off time they may finish the run on their own without the benefit of aid stations or finish line support.

Awards are given to the top three over-all male and female finishers as well as the top three male and female finishers in each 5-year age group. Awards will be distributed in Town Square Park. All awards are based on gun times -- the time elapsed from the sound of the start gun to when a runner crosses the timing mat at the finish line.

If you earned an award and did not pick it up on race day, you may retrieve it at Skinny Raven Sports, 800 H Street. Awards will be held there through Labor Day.
