Under cloudy skies and cool temps, Anchorage runner Jake Moe bettered the men’s field this morning by running a 4:24 mile. This set a new Anchorage Mile record, beating Issac Lammers’ 2013 record by one second. No stranger to the RunFest races, Jake has also won the 2008 half marathon and our 2012 marathon. Jason Coupe ran a 4:28 for second place and Brian Kirchner took third in 4:34.
On the women’s side, Jess Klain took first in 6:04 followed by Tracie Haan in 6:10 and Cindy O’Donnell in 6:15. Eighty three women ran the Anchorage Mile this morning.
The Army wrestled the Military Mile trophy from last year’s winners, the Air Force. The combined time of its top five runners was 30:25, averaging 6:05 per runner. That’s a new record for the Miltiary Mile, more than five minutes faster than the winning combined time last year.
